Natural cold remedies to get rid of this lurgy!

My cold is at its best now and I am expelling mucus like it’s going out of fashion! Ha ha! That said my chest isn’t causing me any issues and I have been feeling pretty good. We put it down to the good night’s sleep and putting Vicks on the soles of my feet! I know weird right but I am game for anything when it comes to getting better! I have been working today and to avoid spreading germs I have been wearing a mask. I look weird but at least my clients won’t get my lurgy.

I believe natural remedies are the best way to overcome colds so I regularly use ginger and lemon as a way to really get the system going.

It is a common misnomer that people are deficient in vitamin c when it comes to getting a cold. This can be true but for most that eat a healthy diet this is not true. Here is an article from Mind Body Green that explains what will help you whilst having a cold;

‘Contrary to popular belief, mega-doses of vitamin C are not the best way to get over a cold. While vitamin C supplementation does support the immune system in some people, once you have a cold, it will not help you get over it faster.

According to a review by Cochrane of 30 randomized trials involving more than 11,000 adults, for the general population, supplementation with vitamin C doesn’t reduce the incidence of colds or upper respiratory tract infections in most adults.

However, for people under extreme stress, or who don’t consume an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables, supplementation does appear to offer some protective benefits, and lower their risk of colds.

Regardless, the review found that once cold symptoms show up, taking a therapeutic dose of vitamin C will not affect the duration or severity of the common cold. (Note that companies like Airborne, which sell therapeutic doses of vitamin C, have been successfully sued for false advertising, and no longer use claims that they can prevent or cure common colds.)

Since colds are caused by viruses, antibiotics, which fight bacteria, won’t help either.

Instead, turn to these natural remedies to shorten the length or severity of colds and flu:

1. Zinc

Zinc is an essential mineral that plays an important role in immunity. Those who avoid meat, in particular, can be at risk for a zinc deficiency. The recommended daily intake (RDI) is 15 mg/day.

Studies show that adequate zinc consumption, or supplementation, not only prevents the onset of colds and flu, but also decrease the duration of them by a day or more, if taken at the onset of symptoms. Zinc is presently believed to be the most effective remedy against the common cold.

Some foods that contain zinc are oysters, crab, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pine nuts, cashews, black beans, and shiitake mushrooms.

2. Elderberry Extract 

Black elderberry juice can inhibit the growth of influenza viruses and shorten the duration of symptoms, while enhancing antibody levels against the virus. It helps reduce swelling in the sinuses and reduce congestion.

Elderberry can be taken as a liquid, syrup or tincture, as well as a lozenge and in capsule form.

3. Ginger

Studies have found that fresh ginger effectively fights respiratory viruses. The same results were not found in powdered form, so use ginger in cooking or teas.

If you’re looking for a good way to boost your nutrient intake this winter, try this Almond Ginger Monkey Smoothie. You can also prepare a simple tea by pouring boiling water over a few slices of fresh ginger and allowing to steep for at least 10 minutes’

Ultra refined pure omega 3’s the answer to inflammation?

Today between clients I have mainly been studying the latest module of my health coaching course.  Each week I am astounded as to the vital point or information I obtain is so very relevant to my personal health situation. Obviously every dietary theory covered will always focus on diseases and causes of disease. CanSer is mentioned a lot. The biggest cause of canSer as we know is inflammation of the body. Today’s lectures have been by Dr Barry Sears who invented the Zone diet. His medical background has led to him devising this diet and he mainly focused on silent inflammation of the body as the underlying cause to all illnesses. I won’t bore with you all the nitty gritty details but a major relevant factor of his diet is taking omega three fish oils.

It occurred to me whilst listening that I haven’t been taking any omega three supplements for some time as I was directed by a dietician that I could obtain this from natural fish sources. But on listening to the lectures it turns out that every fish has high levels of toxins frorm the seas and rivers they swim in. Even if they are organic they will contain high levels of toxins and as Dr Sears calls them ‘sewers of the seas’.  It is apparently highly important that everyone should take ultra refined EPA and DHA concentrated fish oils. Ultra refined means that all nasties would have been removed to leave the purest form of fish oil available. It is essential, as you know, that omega threes play in our health and if nothing else, can improve mental clarity and energy levels. But for someone with disease such as diabetes, heart diseases and of course canSer it could be game changer, for the better.

This has inspired me to introducing this supplement into my diet massively. There are no side effects of having too much of this stuff and I will look to have about 7.5grams of fish oil a day, in liquid form ideally. This amount was recommended by Dr Barry Sears. I feel a little excited. I know it’s another thing to take but I am all for improving every element of my body.

Now with all dietary theories you take some things with a pinch of salt but the reminder of the benefit of omega three fish oils is a great one and I am feeling very positive about having it prompted to me.

Tomorrow I have a Skype meeting with a nutritionist and I am keen to ask her many questions with regards to supplements and extreme diets such as the ketogenic diet. The last thing I want to do is become extreme and cause more inflammation. I believe life is about balance to the individual. What works for one may not work for another.


I have in the last few days been desperately trying to book my few treatment appointments and get an idea in my mind of what is coming up over the next few months. I guess you could call it controlling and I am not letting life flow but I feel that these things require preparation.

With this in mind I have been contacting Dr Nesselhut’s office and GcMAF to book in. I have been failing miserably. My emails haven’t been replied to by either clinic and when calling I am told to call back and wait for email response. Do they know me at all? I try to be patient but I am like a dog with a bone. Someone said this to me when I was working in credit control for Pete’s business. A good attribute to have when in that role I think! Ha ha! I finally got through to Nesselhut’s office who told me to call back this afternoon at 3pm. Me being me… and not being very clever forgot that they are an hour ahead in Germany. Nevertheless I called back and was told he was busy… again…

I called GcMAF and was told that despite being told yesterday that they would call me in the afternoon and take payment for the deposit I was, this morning told, that they are very busy and I would have wait a few days. This is like a red rag to a bull I am afraid. In the most polite manner that I could muster I asked what the delay was and why when they told me they would call yesterday I was now being told to wait a few days to give them money!? The lack of response spurred me to ask a question…. Do they know they are dealing with canSer patients? It’s the fact that they have no sense of urgency. The fact that they do not even have an automatic reply to emails or have the courtesy to send an email to say that the member of the team you are trying to contact is out of the office or that they will endeavour to respond within 24 hours, for example. Callme old fashioned but surely knowing you are dealing with people who may not have time and are living with a hugely stressful situation, doesn’t that warrant a better response and a more compassionate reply?

I should be a consultant. I have always been big on customer service and I am the hardest person to deal with as my expectations are massive but then I am the best at giving this advice. The response I got was, ‘yes, we are aware’. I felt like I was talking to a 12 year old with no life experience and not a care in the world. Needless to say this fell on deaf ears. Despite my efforts of asking for a particular person to call me and leaving my number I didn’t get a call back.

I took a deep breath and carried on with my day. I don’t need to panic or get myself in a tizzy but in my usually persistent manner I did call both clinics back this afternoon.

I had some success with GcMAF and did finally speak to the person who is dealing with my booking but I have been told to wait until they can book the dates I want… no further forward. I have to be patient.

Then I got a call from Dr Nesselhut. It’s always good to talk to him. He is such a jolly fellow. He said that his son had told him I had an allergic reaction to the last gamma delta treatment. He asked how I felt and how soon I recovered and how have I been feeling ever since. He thinks that this could be a good sign and mentioned something to do with tumour degradation. He wants to wait until my scan results to make a decision regarding my next appointment as if the tumours have reduced massively that less is better than more. So there I go again having to be patient. The urgency isn’t really because I want to go but because they get booked up so quickly. But this is the risk I will have to take. Well at least I know now. Dr Nesselhut finished the conversation wishing Pete good regards. Bless him.

Tonight I am going to have one of my usual Epsom salts baths to detox and purify my body and most importantly relax…

Banish Blue Monday…

Another weekend has come and gone and as ever it has been full of fun and love. We visited our friends who we only see a few times per year. It’s not for the want of seeing them it’s just they are very busy people! After a thoroughly jolly time Bear and I headed off to use the facilities of a spa. We worked out, had a swim, steam and jacuzzi as well as a facial together. It was bliss and a great way to spend our Sunday.  Note to self must have more treatments together. It’s such a lovely way of maintaining closeness sharing time like that together.

On our return there were yet more deliveries waiting for me and I always get a little bit alarmed at the thought of what have I bought this time?! It’s amazing how quickly I forget. I have been ordering many new supplements that I have read about in a few books recently and in the process thought that a few may benefit me and also Pete. I am having a meeting this Wednesday with a specialist dietician so I will ask her thoughts on them before taking them. Once I have the low down I will share on here.

I have been preparing for the appointment by completing food diaries and divulging all the supplements and medication I currently take. The list is endless it feels like…

The thing with taking supplements is that you can get carried away. There is no denying that I feel great and would I feel great if I didn’t take these supplements? I know it is best to always get as many vitamins and minerals from actual food intake except for the obvious things such as vitamin D3 which unless you live in a sunny country and spend a great deal outside is needed in a supplement format.  It is possible however to get vitamin d form certain foods.

Here are some foods high in vitamin D;

Shitake and button mushrooms

surprisingly, the dried versions of shiitake mushrooms are high in vitamin D. This may be due to the fact that these mushrooms are great at sucking up sunlight. Shiitake mushrooms are also rich in B vitamins like B1 and B2. Make sure that you find mushrooms that have been dried in the sun, not by artificial means, in order to achieve the benefits of high vitamin D content.


A small, 3½ ounce portion of these high omega-3 containing fish will give you 90% of your recommended daily amount. Currently, it is recommended that people eat more of these oily fishes to infuse their bodies with the vitamins and omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFA’s) that the human body cannot produce on its own.


Sardines are one of the best foods sources of vitamin D. One small tin can of sardines will provide you with approximately 70% of your daily needs. These tiny canned fish are also a great source for vitamin B12, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and selenium.



Eggs are another food that contains vitamin D in small amounts. Eating one egg daily will provide you with approximately 10% of your daily needs. I recommend eating free range organic farmed eggs from a local source if possible.


That said I still always have my eyes open and my ears close to the ground as you never know what could be the one thing that helps stop canSer such as modified citrus pectin which may prevent metastases. Hearing about these sorts of things with such bold statements stop me in my tracks and I can’t help but think well if it doesn’t do any harm then why not try?

Modified citrus pectin is derived from the pulp and rinds of citrus fruits which have been altered to produce shorter sugar chains. Thanks to these shorter sugar chains, the pectin is more easily absorbed through the intestinal tract and into the bloodstream. This has a mean ability to halt metastasis – the spread of cancer. In one study involving melanoma cells, MCP decreased tumour metastasis to the lung by more than 90%.Along with mopping up cancer cells MCP can also draw toxins and heavy metals from the body – often the underlying cause of disease. Well based on that snippet of information that has caught my attention and I wonder why I hadn’t heard of it before?

But as I say I have a list of about 5 supplements that have caught my attention lately and I will ask some advice before adding or alternating for some I already I take.  I don’t want to overload my body anymore than it already is.

I have today taken steps to booking to go to…. Switzerland! I am not off on another holiday but booking for a week at a treatment centre to receive GcMAF. After having received a lovely email from a patient who has just returned from there with nothing but positive comments I felt compelled to give it a go. The cost is currently less than having treatment in Germany at only 3000 Euros for the whole week plus hotel and flights. On checking out the data it seems it is very close to Lake Geneva and the airport is only about 40 minutes away. It won’t be until March but at least I know it is being booked. At least I get to see some of the world whilst travelling for treatment. There is always a bonus to every situation.

Today is apparently Blue Monday as it is classed the most depressing day of the year. I am unsure as to why as I feel that January has so much to look forward to. But if you are feeling blue here’s a little picture to cheer you up….

Quitting sugar in all forms for the Greater Good…..

I need to quit sugar- in every form. I have technically stopped eating processed simple sugars (well almost a few biscuits might have fallen into my mouth at the weekend when I felt a bit sick. Pete said his dad said digestive biscuits cure all sickness!) But I have to give it up in all forms including starchy vegetables, fruits, and look on every label going. I already limit those sorts of foods and I have been considering the ketogenic diet but more and more things have been popping up recently. Last night I saw  a post on the famous ‘I quit sugar 8 week program’ by Australian Sarah Wilson again and then today whilst doing my coursework for the health coach course the speaker went on and on about how sugar is so toxic and what damage it can do. It’s not like I haven’t heard it before but I am hearing, seeing and feeling the signs and I simply cannot ignore them anymore. I have been ‘very good’ for such a long time although I do have lapses (clearly!). On the whole I avoid all things sugary, starchy and so on but during the winter months I have been known to have bread, potatoes, rice and pasta albeit gluten free, dairy free and so on. But I am getting the hint that this is simply not enough and I really should address this issue with a more serious approach.

Sugar is and will always be a ‘baddy’ not just to canSer survivors but to every single human being on Earth. It’s toxic and it’s addictive. There are no two ways about it. It pains me to say I have to give it up seriously but that’s the way the cookie crumbles (Argh more sugary foods!). Even if I didn’t have canSer with all the other health implications I would seriously be considering this anyway. And whether he likes it or not, I feel Mr G may have to do it with me. I’m not being cruel in dragging him into it but we all have ailments of some sort and I believe that eliminating all sugars will be benefit us both.

For canSer survivors this could be the thing that saves their life. Sugar really does feed canSer and it sucks up as much glucose it can get its hands on, so it’s a no brainer really to do it properly.

I have a Skype meeting booked with a nutritionist next week who is going to guide me through a ketogenic diet. I already have the idea but it would be really good to get actual meal plans and ingredients that I can eat.

I have also ordered the I Quit Sugar 8 week program book. It’s full of recipes and advice on quitting sugar. I’ll let you know how I get on. Don’t expect me to be happy all the time! Poor Pete. But it’s for the greater good! (Said Hot Fuzz Styly!)

Fermented foods are good for your gut….

Morning! I am feeling particularly spritely today despite a bad night’s sleep. I go on a lot about sleep but it’s so important in keeping healthy. The way I see is that I can go to bed early tonight so let’s fire on all cylinders today.

I have used my morning wisely by meditating, doing 15 minutes of yoga followed by 40 minutes of rebounding then after having a green juice and supplements I had a coffee enema and cleared my sinuses using the neti pot with Himalayan salt.

I am a tad excited. This weekend I had friends visit us whom we met in Ibiza. It was brilliant to see them and catch up and I didn’t even drink any alcohol. That’s a first for me.  I’m also excited as we go to Germany on Wednesday to Dr Nesselhuts clinic to have both our bloods taken for the next round of DC therapy. I still have many unanswered questions following my last visit but I guess I will have to wait until I get there.

I am feeling really buoyant at the moment. Things are sorting themselves out. Little irritations like skin rashes and spots as well as Candida in the mouth are all going away on their own. I can only hope it is because I am being good to my body.

Last week during the recovery of Candida I did some research into gut health. Little did I realise how good German cooking is for me! Being married to a half German I had always embraced his traditions but was delighted to find out that sauerkraut is so very good for you. Thankfully we had a big jar of sauerkraut sitting in our cupboard which my hubby made into a tasty supper.

It seems like every day, another scientific discovery is made showing the link between the bacteria in our gut and the health of the rest of our bodies. The best way to boost your gut bacteria is to consume nutrient- and probiotic-rich fermented foods. Here are just a few reasons why you should add them to your diet:

Fermented foods improve digestion. Fermenting our foods is sort of like pre-digesting them (sorry about the mental image!). That makes them easier to digest, and easier for our bodies to absorb their nutrients.

Fermentation actually makes foods more nutritious. On top of the fact that we can more easily absorb their nutrients, studies have shown that traditionally fermented dairy products actually provide more vitamins than conventional or even raw milk. (of course I don’t consume dairy but this is still an interesting fact for those of you that do) Veggies, fruits, beans and grains also become more nutritious after they ferment.

Fermentation also helps get rid of anti-nutrients. Fermentation helps eliminate phytic acid, an anti-nutrient that hangs out in grains, beans, seeds and nuts. Reducing the phytic acid makes it easier for our guts to absorb minerals, so you get more bang for your buck.

Fermented foods;

Sauerkraut is finely cut fermented cabbage that is packed with vitamins C, B and K. It also contains a ton of probiotics, including leuconostoc, pediococcus, and lactobacillus. If you’re buying sauerkraut at the store instead of making your own, make sure to choose unpasteurized brands (they should be in the refrigerator aisle.) Pasteurization kills all the helpful bacteria.


Made from fermented soybeans, miso is a very good source of manganese, zinc and antioxidants. It’s often used in soup recipes, but it can also add flavour to other dishes



Coconut yogurt
Coconut yogurt is packed with probiotics, and since its non-dairy, it’s a lot easier to digest than conventional yogurt. Coconut is antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial, plus it’s high in electrolytes, calcium, potassium and magnesium.


Pickles are filled with active bacterial cultures and enzymes. Like sauerkraut, make sure you purchase lacto-fermented pickles from the refrigerator section, not the kind made with vinegar — they may taste similar, but they don’t have the same health benefits. And remember to drink your pickle juice!
With all this in mind I happily chowed down a huge helping of sauerkraut last week and aim to introduce fermented foods into my diet more readily. I’m going to go and make a miso mug right now!

Mistletoe, Fermented Soy and Cannabis? Whatever next..Well if I must, in the name of research!

When you embark on the canSer research route there are many claims as to what is the cure for canSer and it is usually something natural and nothing to do with the big Pharma companies.

I am true believer of having an open mind and I am still coming across information of things that are beneficial. In the last couple of days there have been a few things that have sprung out at me.

Mistletoe therapy is the first one. Mistletoe extract has in fact been used for centuries to treat illnesses such as hypertension, epilepsy, headaches, menopausal symptoms, infertility and arthritis. And more recently it has been used to treat those diagnosed with cancer. This isn’t what I do with mistletoe… Kissing comes to mind!

The treatment was first introduced by Rudolf Steiner and Ita Wegman in the 1920′s and since then, a number of research projects have been undertaken to investigate the effect of using mistletoe on tumours in animals or plants, in vitro, and on cancer patients.

What’s so good about Mistletoe?

  • Extracts of mistletoe have been found to kill mouse, rat and human cancer cells in lab tests
  • Improves immune function
  • It has anti-tumoural effects when administered either directly into the tumour or systemically
  • It is classified as a biological response modifier (a substance that stimulates the body’s response to infection and disease)
  • Extracts of mistletoe have been shown in the laboratory to prevent the growth of new blood vessels needed for tumours to grow
  • MT can be used safely alongside conventional treatment such as chemo, radiotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted therapies such as Herceptin or Avastin
  • MT has an excellent safety record and is widely used in Europe as a “complementary therapy”
  • Protects the DNA in white blood cells in the laboratory, including cells that have been exposed to DNA-damaging chemo drugs

How is it administered?

MT typically starts with low doses of Mistletoe administered intravenously gradually over time working up to higher concentrations. The aim for using higher doses is to jump-start the immune system and help it to recognise any foreign bodies such as rogue cancer cells.


Then popped up something called Haelan 951. I came across this on another blog from someone who has been using it for ovarian cancer.



The fermented soy beverage, Haelan 951, has, over the last 20 years, shown that it will significantly improve a cancer patient’s clinical conditions and quality of life,’ says Don Lofquist a representative at Haelan Products Inc, ‘The product has reversed some Stage IV cancers where other treatments could not.’

Haelan 951 is a fermented soy product which isn’t easy to get hold of and apparently tastes terrible.

The history of it stems back to 989 Lesley Todesco learned of a fermented soy product from China that had worked wonders for a friend of hers.

After learning more about the benefits of the product, Lesley and her husband Joe decided it needed to be made available in the United States.

The company now sells thousands of bottles a week to people all around the world.

According to, head of the Haelan Research Foundation, Walter Wainwright, the fermented soy product fights cancer through the following mechanisms:

* Anti-angiogenesis: When a cancer cell becomes deprived of its blood flow it secretes an enzyme, which causes new blood vessels to grow around the oxygen deficient cells. This process is called angiogenesis. Haelan helps cut off this blood supply.

* Promotes apoptosis: In other words Haelan helps cancer cells die. In one study Haelan 951 reduced the anti-apoptosis gene expression BC12 on breast cancer cells twice as effectively as chemotherapy (doxorubicin).  It also increased the pro-apoptosis gene expression 500% better than doxorubicin (without the risk of leukaemia, heart failure, infertility, vomiting and mouth sores that comes with taking the drug).

* Supercharges Immunity 700%: The fermented soy product has been shown to significantly boost the number of active macrophage – the large white blood cells that digest cellular debris.

* Slows Cancer Growth: Patients resistant to platinum chemotherapy have been shown to do remarkably well on Haelan 951. When one patient was treated with chemotherapy her tumour doubled every 30 days. But after consuming Haelan 951, for nine months, the tumour doubled every 365 days instead.

* Reduces circulating oestrogen levels:  Haelan has been shown to significantly lower the oestrogens which damage cellular DNA and increase breast, ovarian and other hormone driven cancers. Studies have shown an 81% decrease in the ‘bad oestrogens’for healthy women consuming this whole soy product.

Well for me this is exciting and as always I didn’t stop there. I have since found the European stockist who has emailed me and told me that I would need a bottle of this stuff every day for at least 20 days then half a bottle a day for another 40 days. The cost is as expected not cheap. One box with 20 bottles cost € 950 plus transportation € 70 to deliver to the UK. I am still deciding if this is something I should do… I feel spoilt at the moment as I try not to have anything that I don’t like. But I guess in the hope of being cured I have to man the hell up!

Then the last new thing is cannabinoids. After my friend posted me an article in the Sunday Times about a woman who has a brain tumour who should have gone blind, if not dead by now I decided to look into this further. She decided not to have any conventional treatment and isn’t afraid of dying. I am in awe of that attitude. Instead she came across the ‘Wizard of Woodacre’. He is a man who lives in California where cannabis is legal. But this isn’t cannabis as we know it. Imagine me sitting here with a spliff in hand… Yeah man! No I don’t smoke and I certainly don’t want to do cannabis! But this is different.
If you are looking for the latest advances in medical cannabis, then you need to know about CBD rich strains. CBD is short for Cannabidiol. It is one of the many cannabinoids that make up the medicine’s active healing properties. In order to qualify as “CBD Rich”, the product must have more than 4% CBD. Research has identified CBD as the main ingredient responsible for inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. In addition, CBD shrinks tumours and inflammation. CBD is also good for reducing pain and helps with insomnia. It has significant analgesic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduction in anxiety and stress.

All strains that are CBD rich have a lower THC content. THC is the ingredient that makes one feel “high” or “Stoned”. CBD acts to mitigate the “High” of the THC. For this reason, most recreational strains have been bred to reduce the CBD content.

I decided in the name of research to contact the Wizard. I had a Skype meeting with him yesterday. He is a very calm humble guy who explained how they work with a very small number of people and the ingredients are all organic. The product is given in a tincture form. The tincture is made up of 190% alcohol and I would need to take 3ml of the blends 3 times per day for at least three months. The lady featured in the article has been using it since January. Again the cost isn’t cheap. Including shipping from the US I would be looking at approximately $800 dollars per month which is approximately £495. So this is food for thought. I am worried about side effects. The Wizard said I may feel a bit ‘high’ for the first few days as I would get some sort of effect from the THC in the tincture. However this would be rectified by the CBD’s in it. I have to admit I am not thrilled in the thought of using this but it’s an option and if I am to be pushed into a position whereby I am running out of options then all three of these things I would definitely consider. I really liked speaking to the founder of the product and can’t wait to speak with him again sometime.

When it comes to cost and having an open mind I am so very fortunate to have Pete. He would happily find the funds for me to have any of these treatments. He weighs it up with the cost of other spending that we do or used to do, going out on a Saturday night for example and buying clothes.

I think I will let it all sink in a few days and maybe wait to see what feels right.

Ever since the pranic healing  and following his advice to remove crystals from my environment I have extracted every single one hanging, sitting and hiding around my house and from my being. I feel better, actually. I am convinced that canSer has to be treated on every level and that includes the etheric body. I will make a decision on the physical body in due course. Following Fitness and Health gurus online…

This morning I did another coffee enema… This time I decided I would use less coffee as the last time I felt too wired. Maybe I went too far the other way? I didn’t have any buzzing effect at all and actually the liquid looked a bit clear. So next time I will go half way between and get it right. It was a success though and as for clearing out the bowels wow. This time it had a very clearing effect!

I’ve been thinking a lot about family recently what with the young royals having their first baby yesterday… Families are funny things. I am not terribly close to mine. In fact so casual am I to some of my immediate family they may as well be distant relatives. I must be that prevalent in their mind that even my dad forgot my birthday this year. Ho hum. I don’t take it to heart. It’s just a shame that that we weren’t bought up with family values being an important element for us. If I could have my own little family this would be different. I would bring my kids up to want to be around all the time, Christmases, Sunday afternoons and definitely birthdays. I decided to ring my dad today seeing as I hadn’t spoken to him since before my birthday sometime I can’t remember when. It was always nice to catch up, but we don’t really have much to say. But then who does? I’m closer to my mum than my dad. I like chatting girly stuff and visiting when I can. I love it when she comes to stay too as she is quite content pottering around. I like asking for gardening advice and doing things her way… Her house always seems to be cosy just like I remember when I was growing up…. J

I’ve been following quite a lot of nutritional bods on twitter and facebook recently. Francesca’s Fit Kitchen (, Polly’s Path ( and Nics Nutrition ( to name just a few. I feel the daily input helps me stay motivated and gosh, there are a lot of healthy people out there!

I’m considering having more green juices through the day. At the moment is the perfect time for it as it’s hot and sticky. People need to keep their fluids up much more. The problem is that I don’t like the taste that much and it has quite an effect on my digestive system so to speak! That’s why since I first started last July I haven’t had many juices throughout the day. I’d need to stay near the loo! Had a few tweets from Francesca Fox today and she would like me to keep a diary of my diet. I could really do with some guidance. I am stoked!

I’ve had acupuncture today and I really like my new acupuncturist. It’s totally different from before but I feel instantly relaxed when I get there. The therapist energy is so calming. She worked a lot around my lower legs and feet today. The right side felt much more sensitive than the left. I felt my legs buzzing too. Oo it’s exciting. I generally feel great. Another three weeks till my next session. I love having therapy! Ha ha! I need it.

Only two weeks away from my next CT scan. In fact it’s the day after I get back from holiday. Gulp…. In my head I no longer have canSer. I honestly keep imagining the day they say to me there is no sign of disease… or spontaneous remission (Yeah right, we know that means they won’t give me credit for it going! But who cares…) if only that day would come true! I am Miss Impatient! Be thankful what I have got…. remember, remember, remember……

I have an exciting day tomorrow. I visit HD brows head office for a day’s training to be a HD brow pro. Not sure what I am going to learn but like a good girl I have done my homework of five case studies. Actually I have done more than was asked (Didn’t you hate people like me when you were in school?! J) I have an early start so another early night tonight. When don’t I have an early night?

I’m on a journey.. (I hate saying ‘journey’- I sound like someone on the X Factor!)

This morning started with an epsom bath, meditation and yoga.

Second day at Doctor Kates. I wasn’t sure what we would cover today but again it flew by!

We discussed in detail the supplements I am taking. I have been feeling overwhelmed with the quantity and have decided to drop a lot and replace a few of them with new ones. They are all very much immune boosting. Kate discussed the effects of foods on the body. A lot of what I have currently been eating and drinking are having a ‘downward’ effect which means they are hugely metabolising and although they are massively antioxidant and immune boosting the overlap could be making my body work harder. (it makes me think of my favourite saying ‘Keep it simple’) It’s funny because she mentioned how sometimes I may be drawn to warm rather than raw foods. She really taught me to learn what foods help certain organs. I have come away with many recipes, info and yet more supplements and tonics.

Kate discussed the scientific evidence some of the supplements have, in particular reishi (especially for triple negative breast cancer) and reishi spores. Reishi spores are difficult to obtain but a well know Chinese doctor swears they will fix canSer!

She discussed a lot about how although I feel better and well, that my pulse was weak in places. That I have to start stopping! I mustn’t do any hands on treatments as I’m too depleted. She recommends I start recieving more treatments particularly acupuncture and reflexology. She urged me to have more baths but to use dead seal salts and pink himalayan salt not epsom, and to place crystals in them. I get the feeeling that she is suggesting things that wil be softer, nurturing and kinder to me.

I discussed that I used to be so holistic and somehow I have moved away from it. She believes I know a lot and I am already doing and making the right positive changes but I must try to listen and trust my heart.

She played devils advocate by asking, ‘What would happen if you just stopped worrying about your next scan and whether the canSer had got bigger? I said I had to know so I could deal with the next problem, She replied, ‘ because there will always be a problem?’

We did EFT to release the feelings of anger I have against the comments from the specialists at the hospital over the last year. She made me look at everything with a different view. I do feel ‘lighter’ now.

I feel her strong sense of belief with the reishi spores and acupuncture is amazing. I didn’t think she could really teach me much but she has, and now I have a clear plan- 6 weeks on reishi, reishi spores and chaga then 4 weeks off. If by my next scan things haven’t improved, the dose will be doubled.

Kate said she woudn’t normally notice with other people but she felt and could see, that I am protected. She said, ‘Whether you call them light beings or angels, whatever, you are being protected.’ OK- that got me. She hasn’t seen and doesnt know about my blog. She said that I have a lot of glow and great energy. 🙂

I do feel that the things I have been drawn to are right, although I may not have thought they would benefit me in a such a way, such as youga, acupuncture and meditation.

So there it is- I’m on a journey, the fog is lifting, things are becoming clearer. I have to trust, believe and be kinder to myself or if I don’t then I won’t be strong enough and cope as well as I could. (I hate saying ‘journey’. I sound like someone on the X Factor!)

There are miracles out there but Dr Kate really does think combining conventional treatment such as surgery, chemo and radiotherapy with alternative treatments such as tradional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, herbs, nutrition will give individuals the best possible chance of remission. and that;s the whole pint of my ten point plan!

My battle isn’t with canSer it’s with myself….

We discussed what I’d say to canSer. Do I believe that it is part of my body, since the body created it? No. So I told the canSer that I repsected it but it’s not welcome.  She tried to calm me by saying that having the tumours stop or slow right down in growth is probably better that them going altogether as this makes it a stable disease. Kate said that a study of 80 people who died from other ways than canSer, all had autopsies and over 5% of them had primary canSers that they didn’t know about. They had lived happliy with canSer but hadn’t known. I know she is right and I know I have to cope with living properly in the knowledge that it’s there, possibly- it may have already gone! 🙂  But as long as I spend time worrying about it and wishing for it to go and trying to control it, it’s winning because I am giving it power and energy.

So a summary- I need to be kind to myself. I need to listen to my heart and be more intuitive. And I have to over come the constant need to know what is going to happen to somehow change the outcome. I must continue with my plan and really help myself in every positive way. That’s an action plan I think anyone would struggle with but I am game on! True control comes from doing nothing. That doesn’t mean stopping trying to help myself. It means letting go. I can only do the best at that time and trust it is the best thing for me.
